Dysmenorrhea is the medical term for menstrual pain 👉🏾 @ljs_powerhouse
💡 It’s caused by natural chemicals called prostaglandins ➡️ which are made in the lining of the uterus
😰 Pain usually occurs right before menstruation starts, as the level of prostaglandins increase in the lining of the uterus.
1️⃣ On the first day of the menstrual period, the levels are high
2️⃣ As menstruation continues & the lining of the uterus sheds, the levels decrease
3️⃣ Pain usually decreases as the levels of prostaglandins decrease
